Background:

Choiseul Pigeon or Solomons Crested Pigeon (Microgoura meeki) was abundand in the Solomon Islands. The adult pigeon was largely blue-grey, with a buffy orange belly and a distinctive slaty-blue crest. The pigeon became extinct probably due to the introduction of feral cats and feral dogs on island. The IUCN has declared it extinct in 1904.
